Gardening in various containers are a great alternative for those with limited room or that don’t have much of a backyard. There are lots of reasons to grow your veggies in containers, easy access to the kitchen, safer environments for both children and the handicapped, or just lack of gardening space.

Container gardening can also be beautiful and serves dual purpose of style and function around your patio.

The no dig vegetable garden can be just as successful in containers provided similar guidelines are followed.

Built Garden Container Using Pressure Treated Wood… Now what?

Hi All,

My preschooler wanted to start a small garden for spices and vegetables.

We have small dogs that like to raise there leg on stuff so instead of planting in ground, I decided to build a container with legs so it’s elevated a bit…

I used PT wood and it’s 4 feet by 4 feet. The container itself is about 1 foot deep.

After constructing it, I am not sure if the soil will be affected by the chemicals in the PT wood. Should use a liner? If so, which kind?

Also, what vegetables/fruits/spices would be ideal for this size container?

Thanks all!
